Attendance
On the 1st day of absence, please phone the school on 020 7790 1490 before 9am
We believe in giving every child in our care the widest educational opportunities in order for them to be happy and successful citizens. Attending school on time every day is very important for the following reasons:
- For pupils to build on prior learning and not have gaps in learning.
- For pupils to feel that they are fully included and have access to all areas of learning.
- For pupils to develop strong friendships and good relationships.
- For pupils to develop good habits which will stand them in good stead in the future.
- It is the legal responsibility for a child’s parent or carer to ensure that they attend school on time, every day.
It is important that you inform the school office as soon as possible if your child is unable to attend school for any reason.
Children are expected by the Local Authority and Government to attend school everyday unless they are ill.
It is your responsibility to inform the school if your child is not attending for any reason. You can either come directly to the school office on the morning of the first day of absence, Send in a note via one of your other children or telephone school before 9.00 on 020 7 790 1490 and leave a message on the school answer phone stating your child's full name, class and reason for absence.
Absence will only be authorised if your child is ill. All other absences are unauthorised.
All routine Doctors and Dentist's appointments (including check-ups and treatments) need to be made after school or during school holidays.
Emergency appointments such as attending hospital or specialist clinics will only be authorised on the production of an appointment letter or card for half-a-day and must be brought into school at least the day before the appointment - if the appointment is part-way through the morning or afternoon your child is expected to come into school beforehand and return as soon as the appointment finishes.
Holidays During Term Time
Cayley Primary School has adopted the Tower Hamlets policy regarding holidays in term time. This means we will not authorise any holidays during school time. This could mean that should you decide to take your child on holiday during term time they could lose their school place. You could also be fined as we have adopted the Tower Hamlets Penalty Notice Scheme.
