Meet Our Governors
Nick Paul - Local Authority Governor
I was born in Bow, went to school in Bow and Poplar. Apprenticeshiped as a telephone engineer, then trained to be a Probation Officer at Bristol University and was a Probation Officer in Newham for 41 years. Awarded the MBE in 2004 and a lifetime achievement award by the ministry of justice in 2011. Run 15 marathons and as many half marathons. Married 2 children and 4 grand-children.
Chrisinda Nieuwenhuis - Staff Governor
I grew up in South Africa and came to the UK in 2007. I have been teaching at Cayley since April 2007. I have taken the lead on Art and Music, Literacy and Maths during the last ten years and I am currently an assistant head and staff governor. I believe it is our duty as teachers to inspire, ignite the imagination and instil a love for learning.
Saleha Habiz-Khatun - Co-opted Governor
I am a teacher at another Tower Hamlets school, I've worked for the Junior Youth Service and LBTH Heathy Schools Team prior to that. I'm a mother of two, so my passion to improve children's education has stemmed from issues close to my heart.
Khoyrul Shaheed - Parent Governor
I am a dedicated and enthusiastic individual with a strong desire to continue to work for my community.
I am a community activist and have always been hungry to help and eager to get involved with getting the message to the right people.
I am proud to be involved with Cayley Primary School and very happy to be a Governor. I strongly believe that together with all the staff and other governor's we can all work to ensure we reach our full potential.
I am an out going person who likes to work with others and enjoy playing sports.
Jamir Chowdhury - Associate Governor
I currently work in Central Government. I have a strong passion for engagement and believe engagement from Parent/Carers of Cayley can help the betterment of the School. I have a strong passion for pupil achievement and children should be reach their potential.
I believe all children who leave Cayley, should do so by being equipped to conquer secondary education at ease.
Christopher Worthington - Co-opted Governor
I have been a governor at Cayley for 11 years, and am currently chair of the Finance & General Purposes Committee. I studied chemistry at university but now work for a finance organisation in the City of London. My wife and I have lived in Tower Hamlets for the last 8 years, and when not at work we enjoy exploring the borough’s many green spaces.
Hameda Begum - Parent Governor
I am a teacher and have worked in various schools in Tower hamlets over the years. I graduated with a degree in economics and worked in the city as a media consultant for many years. I have four children, two of them attend Cayley. I have travelled to many countries and experienced different cultures and communities.
Don Hall - Co-opted Governor
I am a principal lecturer in Education, actively involved in training the next generation of education professionals. I have taught in higher education for 9 years. I also have 18 years’ experience as a primary teacher in East London schools including schools in Tower Hamlets. I have particular interests in inclusion and diversity in education.
